Muzam from Sri Lanka and Jessica from Belgium met in 2022 and immediately found they had a lot of points in common. They are both entrepreneurs and ambitious, and their big mission in life is to make their dreams come true. They have already proved that they are capable of doing this on their own, and both have several strings to their bows.
Muzam dreamed from an early age of becoming a chef and opening his own restaurant, so he did everything he could to achieve this and studied the profession. At the age of 18 he was offered a professional opportunity abroad. So he left Sri Lanka and moved to Qatar. The company for who he is working have quickly seen that they can trust him because of his personality, and was given a position of responsibility, which he eventually held for 2 and a half years. He came out of this experience more mature, capable of making decisions at the right time and managing any situation. In 2023, he realised his dream by opening his own restaurant, PONO Café. He has also had a passion for surfing since he was very young. One day he met an Australian who gave him his surfboard as a gift. It was a gift that was worth its weight in gold to him and behind which he has seen an opportunity. In his spare time, he went to the beach almost every day to learn to surf and a few years later became a professional surfer who took part in national competitions and is now a well-known surfing teacher in Sri Lanka who has been running his surf school for 8 years. His second dream is to open his own surf camp.
Jessica studied finance in Europe, and her dream was to hold a position of high responsibility, which she achieved at a very young age and held for over 10 years. During this period she also met someone who passed on something to her, this time a story through travel, behind which she saw the opportunity to set off and discover the world. One day she decided to swap her suitcase for a bag pack and set off to discover the world, visiting one or two countries a year. During her trip to the Philippines in 2019, she came back with the desire to open something abroad. In the meantime, she decided to leave her job to take a break, and a dream she'd put aside resurfaced: to go on a round-the-world trip. In 2021, she decided to make her dream come true and spent 14 months travelling from Latin America to Asia, discovering different cultures and landscapes. There she visited Sri Lanka, a country she fell in love with and for which she decided to leave everything 1 year after her return to Belgium. The dream of opening something abroad is still in the back of her mind, and more particularly, a boutique hotel.
After many months of discussions, they decided to pool their skills: he with his background as chef, surfer and management, she with her background in finance, management, business administration, human resources and, above all, as an adventurer. And to create their own concept, combining the idea of a boutique hotel with the vibe of a surf camp.
